A message from the secretariat leading the 2026 diplomatic summit.
Dear Delegates,
It is my distinct privilege to welcome you all to GWHMUN 2026 as your Secretary General.
For many of you, this conference may serve as your first step into Model UN and international relations, and I hope that this conference inspires a greater interest in the world of diplomacy. It is easy to understand just how intimidating your first conference can be. From chaotic committees to complex resolutions, Model UN is not your ordinary extracurricular. My first conference was no exception. Aside from a lacklustre speech, I made no other relevant contributions to committee, quickly realizing just how intense MUN could be.
However, given the chance, I’d choose to do it all over again. The late nights, the heated discussions, and the exhilarating rush of seeing your effort finally come to fruition make this experience worth every second. Having attended GWHMUN for nearly half a decade, I can confidently say that the Executive Board and the level of competition make this conference something truly special and a landmark event for the Bangalore circuit. As a training ground for newcomers and an intellectual battlefield for seasoned delegates, GWHMUN has never failed to set the standard year after year. It has consistently proven to be the birthplace of the circuit’s brightest and most promising.
To external delegates, I applaud your courage in literally stepping out of your comfort zones to engage in this conference. This conference is more than just an academic competition. It involves fostering collaboration, developing relationships, and, most importantly, enjoying yourself and growing as a person. MUN has transformed the way I approach problems, communicate ideas, and taught me the immense value of communication and determination.
As we begin this conference, I’ll leave you with a final message. MUN is all about the unconventional. Don't be afraid to think outside the box, break the mold, and rock the boat. Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. So delegates, seize this opportunity to speak your mind, face adversity head-on, and inspire real change.
May the Force be with you.
Yours sincerely,
Sparsh Bhowmick
Secretary General, GWHMUN’26
"Discovery is a child’s privilege. I mean the small child, the child who is not afraid to be wrong, to look silly, to not be serious, and to act differently from everyone else. He is also not afraid that the things he is interested in are in bad taste or turn out to be different from his expectations, from what they should be, or rather he is not afraid of what they actually are. He ignores the silent and flawless consensus that is part of the air we breathe – the consensus of all the people who are, or are reputed to be, reasonable." -- Alexander Grothendieck
It is my pleasure to be able to serve you as the Director General of GWH MUN 26.
MUN is a process of discovery. It allows us to step into something much larger than ourselves and helps us understand how decisions are made at the highest level.
As we step into this MUN, I encourage you to embody the spirit of the small child. Make mistakes, Question norms, be "unreasonable", but most importantly, learn from these experiences.
From our side, we will try not only to create a conference that is unforgettable but one where everyone, regardless of their past experience with MUNs, discovers something, makes friendships and becomes better human beings.
See you at the conference!
